Throwing Out The Bad Apples

I made a doozy of a mistake when I opened up Pro Niche Site a few months ago.

One particular client had a few questions (more like 10), and I answered them repeatedly over email. That should have been my first warning.

Then, he bought.

And then, I had to explain to him exactly what affiliate marketing was. He didn’t have a clue. How anyone could read that sales page and invest that type of money while being so clueless is beyond me. Hell, he was talking about importing products from a foreign country amongst other things. That should have been my second warning. I should have just refunded him then and there.

I didn’t.

The third warning was about ten days before his refund period came up, when he was saying that he might request his money back. I should’ve refunded him then and there and given him the boot. I didn’t.

Throughout all of this, he was milking me for everything I was worth. Constant badgering of questions, needing his hand hold, you name it. Dozens of emails, hundreds of Voxer messages. He was a constant time-vampire and energy-sucker.

I would estimate that he has used, ie wasted, over three times as much of my time as the rest of the PNS class COMBINED.

Then, the last day of the refund, he asked for it.

I knew it was coming.

I should have put a stop to it multiple times before. The problem was, once I’d invested in him (even as simple as responding to a few emails), I was over-invested and felt like I would be taking a loss if I refunded him. And the result of that is that I took a massive, massive loss. The course fee refunded, plus I’ll lose the affiliate hosting cut that he purchased once he returns that.

And all that time I’ll never get back.

I went down the rabbit hole, thinking I just needed a little bit more to seal the deal, and it was a mistake I’ll never make again.


He tried to sugar coat it by saying that he liked the idea of “DANET” and was thinking about paying the monthly fee to join it.

I told him I had no hard feelings, which is the truth. It’s business. But, I also told him to never buy another product of mine again.

Just goes to show:

Who your customers are MATTERS.

You want high-quality customers. I’m very fortunate that the vast majority of mine definitely are. But once in a while, a bad one sneaks past my guard (I can accept full responsibility for this one).

Learn from my mistakes and prosper.

Some might even say that it’s a mistake to write an article like this and publish it. But, the method to my madness is actually simple…

I want anyone who would even dare to dream that I’m in the wrong about this situation to unsubscribe and never suck me dry like this guy.

To be clear, this goes for anyone in your life.

Not just paying customers.

Girls, family, friends, etc. Anyone who is an anchor to you—who is holding you back in life—you should cut them out if it comes to it.
