…you would be amazed
If you could see yourself the way others see you, you would be amazed.
The above quote has stuck with me for a very long time. I distinctly remember where I first read it – some bullshit Pick Up Artist website. It was in an article attempting to build your self confidence and teach you to be a badass playaaaa. While the rest of that website truly was full of crap, that one quote really inspired me. I still use it to this day as motivation, or to pick myself up on a down day. We all have them. There’s only so much you can do to prevent it, it’s just a part of life. The important thing is how you bounce back.
It helps to think along two trains of thought. The first point is that the majority of people are all wrapped up in their own insecurities, issues, and personal bullshit to give half a rat’s ass about you. Some guy saw you get rejected on your street approach? Trust me, he might chuckle then, but within five minutes he’ll be back to thinking about his stressful job, his nagging wife, or his weight insecurities because his pants don’t fit anymore.
Secondly, the people who do care about you – will always think more highly than you than you do of yourself. You are your worst critic. Frankly, you should be. If you’re content to be mediocre for eternity, by all means, be my guest. Critiquing yourself and striving for more makes you a better man. Never forget that. At the same time, be willing to cut yourself a break once in a while. Much of your personal happiness comes with the acceptance that you cannot always be perfect. Attempting to do so is a futile attempt to always be accomplishing much, but never stopping to enjoy it. Why make and save tons of money to never spend it?
Keep in mind that those close to you think highly of you, no matter how bad a day you’re having.
