#052: EMERGENCY Valentine’s Day Show
“Kyle, how do I deal with Valentine’s Day? What do I get my girl? What if I’m single? What do I do?!”
-Many people this week
Yours Troubly has decided to dust off his cold black heart for one measly blog post and tell you everything you need to know about this not-so-special holiday.
First off, what a stupid holiday. Purely commercial.
I’m glad I live in Eastern Europe where it’s largely ignored.
(Though, admittedly, International Women’s Day—or 8th of March—is a big deal. But it’s nowhere near as commercial. Flowers are sufficient enough and it’s just a nice day overall.)
Anyways, here’s what you do.
Experiences > Materials
Girls “feel” harder. Experiences like travel are much more vivid for them. It’s why every chick “LOVES TO TRAVEL OMG”.
So, give her an experience.
Make it an experience you want to do.
Take her along for the ride.
You are leading her in your relationship, no matter how serious or casual it is, right?
If you’re not, why not?
In any case, it’s totally okay to make her “gift” something that you want to do. To illustrate this example, I’ve never not yet been to a Formula 1 race (though a reader who had connections at Ferrari last year did invite me, shame it didn’t fit my schedule).
It would be totally okay for me to “gift” a trip to a place, take my girl, and then take her to the race.
To make it a little less about me, I’d probably book an extra day or two after that wherever we were going and explore a new city with her.
Say I decided that the Italian Grand Prix was where we were headed. She’s never been to Italy. I’d book a train ticket to a city around the track for Monday after the race, then fly home.
But, she’s never been to an F1 race either, or any kind of motorsport event, for that matter.
Selfish of me?
But also smart.
Because women want to make their man happy, more than anything.
However, this only applies to high value men.
You have to become that first, and that’s the hard part…
Anyways, that’s what I got for you today.
Good luck with V-Day this week.
My presentation for “The Girlfriend Blueprint” — on 3/3 — will have much, much more detail about how to handle these types of events in LTRs.
Signups will go out soon.
In the meantime, this is the best resource to help you manage a relationship.
