The Ultimate Guide to Vietnamese Women

I reached out to two of my friends who are currently living in Saigon, Vietnam. I asked them to share their thoughts about Vietnamese women, culture, and more.

Here are their answers.

Can you share a bit about yourself for my readers? Past travel experiences, your favorite girls, and whatever else comes to mind.

BUDDHA: I have visited about 65 countries over the past 20 years. My old way of travel was to visit places for shorter stays (1-2 weeks) but now I like to hang around for longer (about 3 months) and really learn the culture and language. My first trip outside Europe took me to Thailand 15 years ago. I immediately fell in love with the country and I kept coming back every 1 or 2 years after that.

The length of my stays became longer and longer and I eventually ended up staying there 6 months per year. However, over the last 15 years Thailand have become more developed and the girls more westernized. I needed more challenges and I decided to seek out greener pastures in other places around the globe.

I have spent some time in Vietnam this year and it brings back memories how Thailand used to be back in the days. However things are changing fast here, too. On my first visit to this country 7 years ago I saw many hand drawn rickshaw taxis on the streets and very few western fast food places. Now you hardly see any rickshaws and there are tons of McDonald’s and Starbucks everywhere.

However, the country is still a bit of the Wild West. People drive on the sidewalks and use it for parking their motorbikes, thus blocking pedestrians. Nobody obeys the traffic laws. People throw trash on the streets. However,/ I know all this will change when the country becomes more developed.

Other countries I enjoy staying in are Colombia and Ukraine. My plan is to rotate between these 3 countries for the next few years. When western civilization comes crashing down on these countries too hard I will need to rethink this strategy.

I like traditional girls, and Vietnamese women fit the bill. It can be summed up into a sweet personality, good family values and slim body. I prefer if the girl doesn’t drink (my last two girlfriends had never tasted any alcohol). A good sense of fashion is a plus, i.e. sexy in a traditional way. No need to show a lot of skin. In particular I like the Vietnamese traditional dresses—Ao Dai. It covers most of the body but you can see the sexy curves of the Vietnamese women. Mmmmm.

MARKUS: I escaped the my 9-5 job in April and have been living in Asia since then. I spent two months in Bangkok before setting up base in Saigon.

I love living in Asia and it’s been a real eye-opener seeing the value that I have here as a Western guy.

Southeast Asia is on the rise. The people are hardworking and ambitious, and developments are springing up all the time. The cost of living is low and the opportunities are high. I think this is definitely a good place to be right now.

However, the quality of Vietnamese women simply aren’t as high as Eastern European women. If you’re doing well in Eastern Europe you might find the dating side of things here to be a bit of a let-down.

If you want to get an idea of what Vietnamese girls look like, here are some galleries.

What are Vietnamese women like?

Vietnamese women traits

BUDDHA: It all depends. A lot of the Vietnamese girls living in the big cities (Saigon, Hanoi) have been exposed to Western culture. The level of English can be a good measurement. If they speak English too well they have probably been tasting a lot of foreign cock. However, if you just want to get your dick wet that is a good sign since they most likely will come home to you even on the first date.

If you looking for traditional Vietnamese women for a long term relationship that could be a bit more challenging because of the language barrier. The fact is that the people of Vietnam are rapidly becoming urbanized. That means that a lot of girls are moving from the country side to the bigger cities. These Viet girls are more traditional but the level of English is lower. Some of the foreigners living permanently in Vietnam are putting in the time to learn the language so they get access to a larger pool of girls.

Another good measure of a “good girl” is if they have a curfew. Most unmarried girls live with their family and if the parents are traditional, she has to be home around 11pm. It could be an issue if you do find a girl you like since she can rarely sleep over. I on the other hand thinks it’s a cute thing.

Some girls can be very jealous since I think many of the local girls sleep around and have mistresses. Luckily my girl is not.

MARKUS: Vietnamese women are a paradox. In public, they can be quite conservative. Coffee shops are way more popular than bars, public displays of affection are rare and many girls have a curfew. However, behind closed doors they love sex and are very affectionate.

They are also quite traditional and like to look after their man.

I’ve had numerous girls start cleaning my apartment and offering to cook me noodles. That never happens in the UK.

Can you compare Vietnamese women to those in Thailand or the Philippines?

viet-vs-thailand-vs-phils

BUDDHA: I have never been with a Filipina.

Thai girls are for sure more westernized.

MARKUS: I can only compare to Thai girls, but I find Vietnamese women to be more conservative. I also get the impression that Vietnamese girls are more concerned about what other people think of them.

In Bangkok, I got the impression that girls wanted to be seen with me in public. Almost as if they were parading me. They’d want to go to the venues where they knew they could show me off to their friends.

“Look! I’ve bagged a farang (slang for foreign guy)!”

However, in Saigon I feel like some girls are about self-conscious about being seen to be dating a Westerner. I don’t think it’s universally seen as such a great thing here.

In fact, I’ve seen much more hating from butthurt Vietnamese guys than I ever saw from their Thai counterparts. I’ve seen numerous occasions on Facebook where Vietnamese girls have posted pictures of themselves with Western guys, only to get bitchy comments from local dudes.

I guess that might explain why some of the Vietnamese girls have been a bit edgy when we go out together.

In terms of attractiveness, I’d put Thai and Vietnamese girls on a par. Vietnamese girls tend to have a bit more meat on them than the Thai girls, but they are certainly not fat. Obesity is very rare here.

What’s the best way to go about meeting Vietnamese women? Is online as good as I hear? Is it even worth it to do day or night game?

viet-girls

BUDDHA: Online is good, but you need to screen well to avoid time wasters. Especially Tinder, which seems to be a place with a lot of flakes. But if you do get a girl out from Tinder there is a high chance she will come home with you and bang on the first date.

Then there is Vietnam Cupid. The girls there seem to be a bit more traditional and less flakey. But it’s less of chance that she will come home with you on the first date.

If you have been to Bangkok you will be disappointed with the nightlife in Saigon. There are some places to meet girls and I have had some success here. But if night game is your thing—Saigon may not be your place.

There are places to day game. The issue is the language barrier but I know some guys that have had a lot of success here. Especially on the walking street called Nguyen Hue and the bar area called Bui Vien.

MARKUS: Is online game good in Vietnam? Well, it depends what you’re looking for. If you’re happy dating lots of 6’s and the odd 7, it’s fill your boots time, because you will match plenty of those girls. Finding quality online is a real challenge. Not impossible, but it’s not like certain countries in Eastern Europe where there are lots and lots of stunners. The percentage of girls who are really hot here is much lower than Eastern Europe.

Sure, there a lot of cute, skinny girls. But jaw-dropping stunners? They are hard to date in Vietnam.

Nightgame is Saigon is not the best and is also very social circle oriented. There is not a lot of cold approaching going on, and even the most popular clubs are so small that you could burn a venue and your reputation in about an hour.

People often sit or stand around tables and get bottle service. Provider game locals and expats try to buy their way to the hottest girls. Whether that works or not, I don’t know.

The city is not really set up of for daygame either, but it’s certainly possible. There are a couple of decent sized malls and some parks that could prove fruitful – but the chances are you may become frustrated by the lack of English.

I would definitely say that this is the one city I’ve been to where a lack of knowledge of the local language is likely to preclude you from dating the top girls.

If you want to start meeting some Vietnamese ladies, start with Vietnam Cupid.

What are the general prices around the cities?

vietnam-cost-of-living

BUDDHA: I would say very similar to Kiev. I spend around the same amount of money here month by month as I did in Kiev.

[Kyle’s note: Kiev prices: $600-$700 for nice city center apartment, $3-5 for a nice lunch meal, beers in bars about $1. Dates can be done for under $10.]

MARKUS: You can get a room in a shared house for $200, but it will just be a bed and a fan. A nice studio in a central location will run you around $500. The value for money in accommodation here is lower than in Bangkok I’d say.

UberMoto or GrabBike will take you most 2 miles or so for about a dollar. A Banh Mi sandwich will cost you $0.75. A nice bowl of meat and noodles or rice from a basic local restaurant will set you back $2.00. In a nice Western-style restaurant you’re looking at more like $10

A bottle of Saigon Green beer can cost as little as $0.50 on Bui Vien. However, a bottle of Bud at the Chill Skybar is more like $7.

How are English levels/eagerness to speak there?

vietnam-flag-grunge-113465-1280x720

BOTH: It’s below average. Less than Bangkok for sure. Some girls are very shy to speak English even if they master the basics. However some do want to practice English. And taking a selfie with a foreigner for their Facebook.

Generally speaking, what’s the best way to go about dating Vietnamese women? Do you find it’s a culture that values relationships and therefore they’re unlikely to have a one night stand?

BUDDHA: I’ve had one-night stands here. There are sluts that want foreign dick for sure. Just not that many as in Bangkok or Manilla. The risk is that you may end up Eskimo brothers with your buddies (it happened hehe).

For dates, I usually take the girl for a cup of coffee since drinking alcohol on a first date doesn’t seem acceptable. I think you get a good sense pretty early if there is a chance that the girl will come home with you. If she is more on the traditional side she may even be too shy to hold your hand. A second or even third date will be needed to get some action. As an example, my main girl took four dates to get the bang.

MARKUS: I’ve found that taking a girl home on the first date is possible, but it’s not the norm here. Therefore I go for a quick coffee date as date number one and arrange the second date for a few days later. Second date swoop is level par here.

What cities would you recommend and not recommend for Vietnam?  Any specific tourism things to try?

vietnamese-women-tourism

BUDDHA: I’ve only been to Saigon. If you are a history buff you will love the many museums here. Especially the war museum is great.

I hear good things about Da Nang. I’ve been checking flights to there and they are super-cheap from Saigon.

What’s your craziest story with a Viet girl?

BUDDHA: Hmm. When I was here back in April I dated and banged a lot of girls, mostly from Tinder. I just happened to show a photo of one of the girls I banged to my buddy and he said “WTF, I just banged her”.

We were just laughing. So we looked at each other’s phones to see which girls we were talking to. And there was this other girl that he was meeting that same day, and she was meeting me the next day. I was like, fuck I don’t want to be sloppy seconds again. I just ignored her after that. My buddy ended up banging her but he said she was not as good looking in real life.

I met my current main girl back in April too. Her family is traditional and she has a curfew strict at 11pm. One time right in the middle of the heated action her phone rings. It’s her mom and she was mad as hell. It was well past 11 and we forgot the time. My girl panicked, grabbed her clothes and just ran out.

MARKUS: Nothing too crazy so far. I am Eskimo Bros with a buddy who I’m in a group chat with. We sometimes share pictures of our online matches…it’s scary how often we’re all talking to (or banging) the same girls. Moral of the story—get off Tinder!

What is your best heart-warming (i.e. real nice display of feminine qualities) story that you had with Vietnamese women?

viet-girls-feminine

BUDDHA: My main girl picked me up at the airport when I arrived this time. It was sweet. She is very selfless and put my needs before her own. Sometimes she brings me snacks and other small gifts that she knows I like.

MARKUS: I had a girl tell me that she loves me after our first hour long coffee date.

A really, really big thanks to both of you for answering these questions. I sincerely appreciate it.

For those of you looking to head out to Vietnam, make sure you take a look at the girls on this site.
