October 2016 Recap and Income Report

I’ve been on the fence about posting this for the past few months–figured why not. So here we go.

Let me know what you think about it! If you want these kind of things every month leave a comment below and perhaps it will become a regular part of Trouble.

For the first time, I’m going to post my monthly income that my still-modestly-sized blog is making and give a brief recap of goals, going-ons, and more that happened for me in October.

BACKSTORY

I’ve decided to let out a little “secret”.

I left my job on February 23rd this year. Do you know what This Is Trouble earned me in January 2016?

$119.

Yeah, it was bad. I had already made up my mind, put in notice at my apartment, and booked my first apartments in Poland. Then that happened, and I was left wondering…

What the hell I was thinking about quitting my 6-figure job.

Want proof? Okay, here you are.

To prove that I wasn’t completely insane, I went ahead and also pulled my entire earnings from last year. Now, keep in mind that the one and only product I had on market at the time was Cracking OkCupid.

And sure, I made a few bucks here and there from some small affiliate links I had on the site, but I can’t imagine they added up to more than $300-$500 for all of 2015. It wasn’t even worthwhile enough that I have the data from that–I wasn’t technically even a “business owner” then.

That comes out to roughly $200 a month when you subtract the affiliate commissions.

And actually, now that I look at this I’m sort of chuckling to myself and again wondering why I thought it was a good idea to go all-in on This Is Trouble. I’ll try to answer that the best I can.

Stubborn, almost stupid self-belief in myself and this brand.

Yep, that’s the best I could come up with.

You see, I’ve always had the audience (that’s you!) to back me up. Good engagement rates across my site, social media platforms, and more. Page views and shares have always been good. I thought that maybe it was just a matter of being consistent (there were months in 2015 I only published once or twice), and getting a few more products to the marketplace, as well.

It’s also probably worth noting that I had written The Harem Handbook book at that point, too–but ended up turning it into the course that it is today (more on the book coming up in this post).

Regardless, I looked at my bank account and figured if I was smart with my money, I had enough saved to last me a year and a half living abroad–and that assumed that I didn’t make a penny from This Is Trouble (which I already was).

Not only have I not been 100% smart with my money, but I’ve made enough to afford several side trips to places like Istanbul, and can afford some nice views in Kiev and Prague, too.

I walked out of that office on February 23rd with no doubts in my mind I could do it. And while I won’t say that I haven’t had doubts creep into my head at all, it’s all working itself out. October was not even close to my best month, but this is the first time I’m going to share it.

THIS IS TROUBLE OCTOBER 2016 EARNINGS: $1,864

snip20161106_22

Yeah, not gonna lie–that’s a screen cap of an OSX Numbers spreadsheet. Yes, I could have Photoshopped that. No, I didn’t.

At this point, I just don’t want to disclose exactly where I’m making every dollar from the business. Again, if this post is a huge success and the coming months are, too–I’ll be happy to start giving the line-by-line breakdown of everything. And again, leave a comment below if you like it (or if you hate it, too!)

I also made a bit more money doing a website for my father and a friend. That friend is Goldmund Unleashed, and you can check out the site here.

THE JOURNEY

As you can see, that’s quite the improvement from where I was in October of last year. Hell, just for kicks…

snip20161106_21

Subtract the affiliate share and that’s less than $40.

That’s an increase of 4,560%.

You see, something happens when you have to make it. What was I going to do if I failed at making money from this blog? Sure, I could have picked up some freelance web work or something. But I didn’t really want to. I wanted to be able to tell girls I wanted to meet that I was a pro blogger and world traveler. Not a freelance web designer.

Writing, producing, and working on this business hardly feels like work. It’s how I’m able to put in three straight 14 hour days–like I did this weekend. I was happy as a clam.

And no, $1,864 is not a lot of money. No, it wouldn’t be enough to live in a Western country. But it’s fine for where I am right now in life. No doubt, it’s going to continue to climb as the Trouble network itself grows. That doesn’t even include my other websites!

(Which I suspect may make more than Trouble at some point in the future.)

As a final note, I also had the website evaluated at the beginning of this year. That evaluation came back at about $10,000. While I won’t give exact numbers on what the latest evaluation (back in July) came at, it was significantly, significantly more than that.

PERSONAL HAPPENINGS AND UPCOMING NEWS

Moving

As you’ve probably picked up by now, I’ve relocated from Kiev to Prague. Some of you probably are left wondering what happened to the Ukrainian girl. Well, she’s here with me. No, we’re not living together. And no, we’re not engaged. And finally (bite me), no–she’s not pregnant.

Man, you don’t really think I forgot all my training just like that, did you?

I’ll be here until the middle of December–so if you’re stopping through, make sure to say hi. Then I’ll return home to California for a month or so.

Which leads me to this:

You may have noticed the tone of the blog has changed a bit. I’ve begun to expand a lot more into the freedom mantra–as in making money online, traveling, building a business, and more.

The reason? Two-fold.

The Pivot

#1: I’m obviously in a relationship, and quite happy. I’m pair bonded with the girl, and she’s good for me. I like it. There’s also no denying what having a good girl at your side does for your business and other pursuits. I am getting less random tail but also doing much better in every other aspect of life with her around.

#2: There’s only so much to say about dating and game. That’s not to say I won’t keep writing about it (I still will a few times a week), but I do want to try my hand in other things, too. Potentially, I may try to fill a much-needed space and write a book or create a course on Red Pill relationships. But no promises there.

Again, it’s not like that part of me is shutting down. I still enjoy analyzing things. Game is why I’m here where I am today. I wouldn’t have the business, travel experience, or confidence without it. If you’ve got questions, I’ll always have answers.

What’s Next?

img_6386

I’ve launched my book on Ukraine, which I’m doing as a case study. The general goal of this is:

Publish book at low price –> Get reviews on Amazon –> Study how Amazon works –> Increase price –> Write guide (free) so you can do the same

I’ve got that announcement scheduled for this upcoming Wednesday, but may postpone it around depending on what goes on with the election. But if you want to check it out early, you can view it on Amazon now.

bt

I’ve also received the actual book that I based The Harem Handbook course off of back from the editor. You can expect that to launch sometime before Christmas. I’m also in the middle of debating whether or not it will be given a different name.

If you’ve got suggestions, I’m all ears.

Finally, I’m starting to offer some website services for those of you looking to get started (or just get a new look). That area of my business is called Troublesome Solutions. More announcements about this, too–in the coming weeks.

The End

I understand the long term part of business. Some of you have been with me since the beginning. You commented on my site when it started. You bought Cracking OkCupid. You bought the Handbook. And now some of you are enrolled in the University, too.

Must mean I put out quality products 😉

I can’t even begin to thank you enough. Seriously, words can’t even describe. And I know who you are, trust me. I also look at the growth that this site has experienced and realize that many of you are starting to become new “long-term readers”. To you I say, welcome.

The journey is just beginning.
