Celebrating One Year Of Blogging

One year ago today I sat down and registered a free WordPress blog. One year ago today I penned my first post about how stupid some of my college-aged female friends were being; whoring it up and living the #yolo life. One year ago today, the journey of trouble began.

After one year of blogging, starting this blog is hands-down one of the best things I’ve ever done.

Accomplishments in one year of blogging

I never imagined how accountable blogging would make me

It’s amazing how, once people started reading, I really felt accountable. To a bunch of people on the Internet. Who would have ever known? But I found that once I started getting thoughts out there, people seemed to genuinely be interested. For a long time, I did not understand why.

Perhaps I was a better writer than I gave myself credit for?

Perhaps I just had an interesting life?

Perhaps people just needed a mild stimulant – a way to be entertained?

Over time though, I began to realize that people kept tuning in to This Is Trouble because it is brutally honest. I make no lies about how I used to be a overweight, depressed, and full of problems. I wrote the field reports even when I struck out. Everyone has their own internal battles they fight, and it’s damn comforting to know that there are other people out there in the world struggling with the same issues. The world is a big place (trust me, after my spring ’14 EU trip I am more than aware of this), and sometimes it’s nice to know you aren’t alone.

Where do I go from here?

I’m on a constant path, battle – no, war to improve myself. Whether it’s my fitness, living situation, or income, I’m all over it. I’m making a little bit of money off of the blog by recommending products I fully endorse, and I have more books and other projects in the works, as well.

So, I have an honest question for you readers: what do YOU want to see on This Is Trouble?

I want to help men succeed. I want people to read this blog and have actionable advice that they can use to gain the upper hand in their endeavors. Based off of my SEO traffic and most popular posts, I have an idea of what people want to see, but I’m looking for more concrete answers.

  • How can I improve This Is Trouble?
  • What are your favorite posts from the first year?
  • Are there any specific posts, books, or products you’d like me to explore?

Thank you for reading, and I can’t wait to check in again on July 7th, 2015 and see how far I’ve continued to come.
