Good Work Ethic

A Good Work Ethic Overseas Will Take You Far

The funny thing that I’ve realized as I’ve spent more time abroad is this that a good work ethic will take you far. While sometimes Americans have a reputation of being extremely lazy, the opposite is actually true. The fact of the matter is, Americans have some of the best work ethics of anyone on the planet.

The unfortunate part of this is that the reason behind it is because of the slavery mindset that is instilled upon us from a young age. From the time we’re old enough to walk, we’re forced into schools that shove beliefs and lessons that serve no practical life purpose whatsoever.

Meanwhile, practical life lessons like how to run a Harem of girls are largely ignored.

Then we “choose” to attend college where it’s more of the same (did I mention the massive debt, too?)

So while many Americans in their corporate slavery jobs are miserable (myself included), they’re still working hard. The consequence of not doing so is shame, and possibly getting fired. This is why we have a good work ethic.

BUT, when you take that American work ethic and apply it to your own business, especially overseas, it can take you quite far.

Nearly every country I’ve been to in Europe has a “cafe culture”, as I like to call it. This means that on a near-daily basis, they spend several hours (or more) sitting out at a cafe enjoying a meal. Hell, some people do this for two hours at lunch and then another three hours at dinner.

It took me a long time to adjust to this. Dinner is not a rushed thing. You practically have to beg the waiter to bring your check at the end.

In America, on the other hand, they’re far more worried about making their turnover margins (usually 45 minutes) and waiters have no problem practically pushing you out the door

Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy the European style of eating now, but I also realize that it can’t be a daily (or bi-daily) thing. This is NOT a good work ethic.

Simply put, long meals out all the time cut into time that you can be doing other things. Whether that be meeting new girls, enjoying your current harem, or building a business–everything has an opportunity cost.

But a funny thing happens when you realize that…

As I said, there is a very laid back attitude towards meals. But when you realize that you are longer and harder hours than almost everyone else in your city, something starts to dawn on you…

…that you’re ahead of the game.

Knowing, feeling, and believing that you are on the TOP of your game can push your motivation up to even higher levels. This allows you more output, opportunities, and obviously–money.

good work ethic

A good work ethic makes you less of a slave.

It’s hardly slavery if it’s your own business that you’re passionate about. In fact, I’m really starting to believe that at the root of any successful solo business is genuine passion and a nonstop work ethic.

The odds are always going to be stacked against you, but simply put–if you aren’t willing to do the long hours, someone else will.

And that someone else will enjoy the freedom and success that is within your reach.

Most of you are probably familiar with this concept. The more you do, the more you want.

For example, video games rarely end when your each the max level. Once you’re at the maximum level, then you can advance yourself further. You can get new weapons or other silly stuff.

The game never ends.

Being at the top (max level) makes you want more. Because the feeling of success is a drug. It’s a happy endorphin. Your body will crave more of it.

The key is to get success in the right areas.

Being a max level video game character (trust me, I’ve been there and done that) does nothing for your life as a whole. Sure, you’re the cool kid of the nerds, but that doesn’t mean (or earn) shit in the real world.

Wouldn’t you rather be successful with say…women?

Once you have the taste of success, you want to stay on top. Why do you think professional sports teams form dynasties? It’s because of the desire of the players to stay at the top of the pyramid.

Success and money is often exponential. Once you topple the first domino, it’s a dynamic effect. Things become easier, smoother. More efficient. Your ideas come easier to you.

You are more likely to take risk because you have the cushion, and the experience, to know that the greatest risks also carry the greatest rewards.

And kicking the ass of those risks is the sweetest thing in the world.

And that’s why you should always make the leap.

Ha! Thank you, they’ve actually done studies where Americans are possibly the hardest working people on the planet. The Americans Are Lazy trope is mostly an old management tactic to push you harder without paying you more but on a cultural level.
